We are fortunate
A couple of things have happened in the last week or so. The first is that my uncle who needed a liver transplant didn't make it. My mom called me last Saturday while I was at work and let me know he had passed so Kris and I had to head for Michigan quickly. He was a second father to me. He had been suffering for awhile now so I'm really at peace about his passing but we're all going to miss him terribly.
The second is that I brought my cousin and our friend down to stay with us for a couple of days. I've known this friend for about twelve years but hadn't talked to her in about ten. We got to spend a bit of time catching up but Kris and I had to work so it wasn't nearly enough. Having such a great friend along with the little one my wife and I are expecting are enough to remind me of how fortunate we are.
