Jon Stewart live at the Murat Theatre
I love comedy, especially political satire. I watch Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO every week. Before that it was Dennis Miller. Time has passed and I no longer enjoy Dennis Miller very much mainly because he seems to have this "fuck it all" attitude lately which may be a sign that he's tired of grilling the current White House administration.
At any rate Kris and I went to go see Jon Stewart live and we laughed so hard we walked out of the theater teary-eyed. I don't know if he's attempting to appeal to the masses but he seems genuine in his ass-whooping and no one is exempt from it. He has contempt for the extremes and comes off blatantly honest about how stupid we are. By this I mean he points how we all turn over and bah like sheep.
I'm beginning to think that comedians especially people like Jon Stewart are the only ones who "get it" and aren't afraid to tell people to fuck off when they've got everything backwards. Politicians these days get away with screwing the masses yet we sit here and gripe about it without anybody but comedians saying "Hello, is anyone home?" Of course I'm no exception.
One funny note before I go. His explanation for why the two extremes (republicans and democrats) had time to stand outside of Terry Schiavo's room chanting and wearing duct tape and the masses weren't was because WE HAD SHIT TO DO. Let me say it again, WE HAD SHIT TO DO. Unfortunately the people with shit to do don't make the news and the well according to Jon Stewart, the media is a joke (which is completely true).
