Appreciation of our Freedom

I watched this weeks Real Time with Bill Maher and of course a good portion of the discussion centered around war. I've expressed my opinions about it in some forums that I frequent and when I state my position perhaps disagreeing with the reasons why we are in Iraq, I get bombarded with comments on how a brutal dictator needs to be removed. It seems like it's so easy for people to ignore our human rights track record and even the ideas behind pre-emptive strikes. They also are quick to say anti-war people should be shot or silenced in some fashion because they have no real appreciation for what the soldiers are supposedly fighting for.

Anyway Janeane Garofolo made a perfect point and that was that those who say that anti-war protestors have no clue and should shut up are really acting Un-American in a way. The right to voice ones opinion is something that must continue even in the face of a controversial war.

I'm tired of people insinuating that the majority of those against the war 1) don't support America's children on the battlefield and 2) are either Un-American, unpatriotic or some other nonsense.

I just had to get that off my chest.
